How to Wear the POD 2

The POD 2 has two mounting positions: foot (shoe) and waist. The data available differs depending on which position you choose.

Here’s how it looks mounted on the foot:

A clip accessory for foot mounting is included. Thread it under your shoelace first, then snap the POD 2 into place as shown above.

Do not use the waist clip accessory on your shoe — it may come loose during a run.

For waist mounting, clip it to your running shorts or tights. Always position it at your body’s centerline, and make sure the POD 2 sits flat — even a slight tilt will affect data accuracy.

How Much Does the POD 2 Improve Data Accuracy?

I tested the POD 2 during real training sessions and compared the data in COROS Training Hub. Here’s what I found.

New metrics like vertical oscillation and ground contact time are straightforward — they simply weren’t available before the POD 2. But I also looked at how much it improves GPS distance and stride accuracy.

Note: the comparisons below are from different training days, since the POD 2 can only be worn in one position at a time.

Pace

With POD 2 correction, pace tracking becomes significantly more responsive — especially at moments where speed changes sharply. The improvement is most noticeable during speed transitions.

Stride

Stride length accuracy also improved noticeably. Without the POD 2, stride data showed erratic swings during elevation changes — even when actual stride length wasn’t changing much. The POD 2 smoothed this out considerably.

Running Power

For me, the biggest change after adding the POD 2 was Running Power measurement. The accuracy improvement was immediately clear — the data below speaks for itself.

I had always assumed Stryd was the only viable option for accurate running power data — but the price had kept me from committing to one.

The COROS POD 2 surprised me. I didn’t expect it to measure Running Power this accurately.

I can’t verify whether the absolute power values are accurate. But as a relative metric within my own training data, the readings are consistent and useful enough to build structured workouts around.

Going forward, I plan to incorporate Running Power into my structured training.

COROS POD 2 vs. Garmin Running Dynamics Pod

I also own the Garmin Running Dynamics Pod, so here’s a quick comparison.

The Garmin Running Dynamics Pod doesn’t enhance watch data accuracy — there’s no equivalent to the COROS POD 2’s pace correction or stride correction. On paper, the COROS POD 2 is the clear upgrade in every meaningful way.

Can You Use the Garmin Running Dynamics Pod with COROS Watches?

The short answer: almost never.

To be precise, the only COROS watch compatible with the Garmin Running Dynamics Pod is the COROS PACE 2. The Garmin pod uses ANT+ connectivity, and the PACE 2 is the only COROS model that supports ANT+.

If you own any other COROS watch, the Garmin Running Dynamics Pod is not an option.

The COROS POD 2 is a must-have sensor for any runner who wants to get the most out of their running data. Whether you want to train with Running Power or dial in metrics like vertical oscillation and ground contact time, this small sensor delivers real value.
